Having just started to play the first game- which I'm having much more fun with than I'd expected to- this comes as good news. Videogamer reports that Electronic Arts are currrently working on a sequel to Mirror's Edge.

Senior VP of EA Europe Patrick Soderlund confirmed the news at E3, claiming a "small team" are working on the project and that the original "sold better than most people think."

"You will see another Mirrorís Edge for sure.", he continued, before hinting that changes may be afoot for the franchise: "Itís just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it."

That last sentence, coupled with the way an EA conference call earlier in the year went, where it was stated that EA would "probably going to look into some issues around the design", makes me think that it's probably going to get more guns and be browner. But then that would show a lack of Faith.

Strange one this, but apparently due to the soon to be downloadable retail 360 game service on the 360, the Originals line is to be scrapped.

Ign are reorting that Microsoft has "finished it's portfolio" of Xbox Originals, bar one yet to be released game (Shenmue 2 please).

I've never used the Originals service, but it seems a bit of a waste to abandon it so soon, but at the risk of being controversial, the xbox wasn't blessed with stacks of classic game. Although I can think of a few that should have made the list that haven't (Strangers Wrath and Panzer Dragoon Orta for example)

Konami tonight announced another Metal Gear game called Metal Gear Arcade. Shokingly enough it's an arcade game, based on Metal Gear Online, but intriguingly uses 3D glasses. Probably only for Japan though, although I wouldn't bet against a console port

The real news though is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. It gets a bit vague here, but Hideo Kojima is involved although it's being developed entiely (seemingly) but the developers of Clive Barker's Jericho.

Apparently it's going to have an "open game world". I just hope it's as good as the 2D games, even Dawn of Sorrow

Just a quick edit to add an incredible looking Trailer and to mention that Robert Carlyle and Patrick Stewart are in the game!

Right then, Sony's conference is done, and what a conference it was. Loads to talk about here.

After all the sales talk, they jumped straight to a live demo of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which looks rather good. A Multi-Player beta starts tonight but I'm not sure wether thats US only or not.

They also had a live demonstration of MAG the massively multiplayer online FPS, in fact it was a full on 256 player online demonstration with 8 players making up a squad on the stage and a further 248 players making up further squads from various Sony studio's over the internets. They said that it will be available this Autumn

There's going to be a Hannah Montana PSP bundle, with the original model handheld being lilac in colour.

PSP Go was officially shown, Sony state it will not be a replacement for the current model PSP, instead they'll sit side by side in retailers. It has no UMD drive so all the games will have to be downloaded, this gives original model PSP owners the choice between buying their games on UMD or buying them online and downloading. The PSP Go will have intergrated WiFi and Blue Tooth, it will be 50% smaller than the current PSP 3000 and 40% light, it will have a 16gb flash memory with an expansion slot for Sony's new Memory Stick Micro and will hit retail at 249.99 Euros (no GBP price as yet) on October 1st.

Yamuachi-san also announced that Gran Turismo Portable will be available this year, and will actually launch alongside the PSP Go, its a proper full size Gran Turismo, with 800 cars, 35 tracks and 60 layouts of those tracks. It will also support ad-hoc play for upto 4 players and will have Pokemon style trading and sharing of cars as it will be very difficult to obtain all 800 cars on your own.

Hideo Kojima appeared on stage to announce Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP. It is set in the 1970's 10 years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it details the formation of Outer Heaven. Kojima himself is writing the script and handling Producer duties, which he states means its not a spin off or side story. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be available some time in 2010.

We were shown a Resident Evil logo and were informed that there's a brand new Resident Evil game, designed from the ground up exclusively for the PSP. The legendary Final Fantasy VII is now available to purchase on the PlayStation store, and there is 50 more PlayStation classics on there way to the distribution system.

Rockstar are working on a PS3 exclusive called Agent, which sounds like a stealth game, it'll be set in the 1970s.

A live demo performance of Assassins Creed 2 was shown. Its set during Renaissance Italy, specifically Venice and has Leonardo Da Vinci making weapons and other inventions for Ezio, the lead character, to use. There will also be connectivity features between Assassins Creed 2 on PS3 and Assassins Creed: Bloodlines on PSP.

A trailer for Final Fantasy XIII was shown which introduced story elements after yesterdays live demo of the battle system. Another exclusive, Final Fantasy XIV, due out next year, its another MMORPG like Final Fantasy XI was.

Sony also showed off their own, new, motion control system. Like Nintendo's Wii remote, its a wand system (unlike Microsofts human body is the controller system). It's only a prototype though, but it looks alot of fun and looks alot more accurate than Nintendo's Wii remote is at the moment.

A new Kart racing game was shown, titled ModNation Racers, its part of Sony's self created Play, Create, Share genre. It will allow users to completely customise and create their own vehicles and characters for use in the game, but thats no even the best bit. A stunning track editor was shown thats completely intuitive and easy to use.

Sony officially unveiled Team ICO's The Last Guardian and it looks absolutely amazing. It's also the final part of a trilogy of games that started back on the PS2, with ICO and Shadow of the Colossus being the other two parts.

A trailer for Gran Turismo 5 was shown, the trailer featured everything you expect from a Gran Turismo game and it will also include the official licenses for NASCAR and the WRC.

Finally, God of War 3's gameplay was shown off. Now I've tried to get into these games but never really enjoyed them, but the footage here has made me want to try this one and to see if I like it, it really was that epic, absolutely stunning stuff. It'll also be the final part of the God of War Trilogy.

Square-Enix conference is basically just a big Q+A session about Final Fantasy XIV. For those interested, it has the same classes as Final Fantasy XI, but it isn't set in Vana D'iel. It's not 100% exclusive to PlayStation 3 as it will appear on PC too. It'll launch worldwide simulataneously in 2010, and will be in the following languages: English, Japanese, German and French. Spanish may be added later if there's demand for it.

Servers are currently planned to be cross region (so someone in England can play with someone in Japan for example) and cross platform (PS3 players can play with PC players, I imagine you can also share your character/profile between platforms too if you insist on owning a copy for both). A beta is also planned (unsuprising)

A bit of Europe relevant news to slip out after the Nintendo conference was that Metroid Prime Trilogy is coming out over here and even has a date.

4th September is the date, and a big question mark is the price. My guess is around £30, but I wouldn't bet the house.

The only other dates of note that I can find on the vast and infinate net are for Professor Layton and Pandora's Box and Kirby Superstar Ultra, both are due sometime in September

Nintendo's show has literally just finished and it was a very very mixed bag.

They kicked off with announcing New Super Mario Bros for the Wii, this isn't a port of the DS game of the same name, but has been designed from the ground up with multiplayer in mind, specifically 4 player competetive co-op play, where you can choose to work together or just piss each other off. A couple of the games in Wii Sports Resort were also shown, specifically the sky diving intro, Archery and Hoop Shooting (basketball). Square-Enix are making a new Final Fantasy, its titled Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers and looks to have alot in common with the Crystal Chronicles games.

Reggie Fils-Aimes talked about Wii Motion Plus, and stated that Tiger Woods and Grand Slam Tennis from EA, plus Virtua Tennis 2009 will be the first games to use the attatchment, whilst Red Steel 2 will be the first game that only uses the attatchment, good thing its in the box with the game then eh?

Square-Enix are also developing Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the Nintendo DS, whilst there's a new Mario & Luigi DS game coming this fall that see's the brothers having to shrink and fight stuff inside Bowser. Camelot are also reviving Golden Sun for the DS.

A new crime novel murder mystery game (think Hotel Dusk) was unveiled, titled Womens Murder Club: Games of Passion, its obviously squarely aimed at the romance novel reading gender, and Ubisoft had a trailer for COP: The Recruit, their take on GTA: Chinatown Wars, they also had Style Savvy a sort of fashion based game for teenage girls.

The DSi will be getting 2 "must have" downloadable exclusives in the shape of Mario Vs Donkey Kong: Mini's March Again, which will also have a level design feature that allows you to share your levels with friends through link play or Nintendo Wifi. The second DSi downloadable game was Wario Ware DIY, which lets you make your own Wario Ware style micro games. The DSi will recieve a feature that lets you upload photo's taken on the camera to Facebook.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, the sequel to Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (which itself was a sequel to Wind Waker), is still in development for the DS.

It's at this point that I'm beginning to think Nintendo have lost it, they announced a Wii Vitality Sensor, a finger clip that measures your heart rate, I'm not entirely sure what purpose it has unless its somehow linked into WiiFit Plus.

The Wii will be the first Nintendo console to feature 2 3D Mario games (New Super Mario Bros is 2.5D), as Nintendo announced Super Mario Galaxy 2 which will also have Yoshi in it.

A couple of third party Wii exclusives were shown off, SEGA's FPS The Conduit which is out in around 3 weeks time, Capcom's Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles which is the same as Umbrella Chronicles but I think it tackles the stories in Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica. There was also a trailer for EA's Dead Space: Extraction which I believe is a prequel to Dead Space on PS3 and 360 but it plays more like a light gun game.Nintendo's last, and potentially best, announcement was of a collaboration between themselves and Team Ninja (Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden), which turns out to be a 2.5D with FPS sections Metroid game, titled Metroid: Other M, shite name but it it looks fantastic.

Here's a nice little tidbit that got lost amongst the shuffle at E3.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi, developer of Luminies, Meteos and of course Rez is making a game for Ubisoft.

Currently titled 'Codenamed Eden', we know absolutely nothing else about it. Good news though

A couple of bits of Microsoft news came out after their conference last night.

Firstly from August you will be able to download 360 games straight to your harddrive, paid for either by credit card of MS points.

Initial titles include the risable Sonic The Hedgehog, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Crackdown, Colin McRae DiRT, Call of Duty 2 and LEGO Star Wars. Further details are scarce, but MS are promising a 'new' title a week

The second bit of news is that developers will now be able to include clothing and props for your avatar as a reward for buying doing well in their game

Again beyond those details not much else is known, but it shouldn't take too long.

OK, so this is later than the EA and Microsoft breakdowns. Sorry, I had to sleep!

They will be intergrating U-Play software in Assassin's Creed 2, the new Splinter Cell and new Avatar games, U-Play is a sort of interactive strategy guide built into the game. Peter Jackson will once again be working with Ubisoft (he was heavily involved in the King Kong game) whilst Steven Speilberg will also be taking control of a project with them (alongside the games he's doing with EA).

Red Steel 2 will use Nintendo's Wii Motion Plus remote add-on, the previously mentioned Avatar game will be based on James Cameron's movie, Cameron is also involved in the creation of the game in some manner. There are going to be short films based in the Assassin's Creed 2 universe in the build up to its launch (and possibly after). James Cameron talks about Avatar, we're now 20 minutes into the conference and we've seen no actual games...

So we finally have some game video footage, of Red Steel 2, looks like its in more of a Wild West setting rather than the modern Gangster/ Yakuza stylings of the first game, not actual gameplay footage in that trailer. But they're giving it a live demo. WiiMotionPlus lets you have total control over the on screen sword, looks incredibly accurate so maybe Nintendo's claims of 1:1 accuracy ratio were true. Visually Red Steel 2 has a strange sort of Prince of Persia esque cel shaded look going on. The game will also be bundled with a WiiMotionPlus attachment for the Wii Remote at launch.

Shaun White 2 was also shown, the Wii version in fact and again it uses the Wii Fit board as its default method of control. Pele makes an appearance to introduce World Soccer Academy which has a really horrible visual style if you ask me.

They showed off a World War 2 RTS for PC, PS3 and 360 that goes by the name of Ruse. They also announced their own fitness game called Your Shape which seems to use a USB camera plugged into your Wii to make sure your not cheating or something like that, and they all announced that Assassin's Creed 2 will be released on November 17. They also announced they'll be publishing Grasshopper Manufactures No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle on Wii in early 2010.
