| Multiformat : More nursey footage from Silent Hill: Homecoming |
| Posted by Duane Weatherall on 2008/9/3 6:12:44 (10 reads) |
Some new footage from Konami's Silent Hill: Homecoming featuring everyones favourite "not sure why I find that sexy" game villain, the Nurse. Seems in this one the creepy town now has its very own Ann Summers, judging by the so-called "uniform". My fiance assures me that she doesn't suddenly change into something similar when she arrives at work... |

| What We're Playing : Who's line is it anyway? |
| Posted by Duane Weatherall on 2008/9/3 6:10:15 (13 reads) |
I did last week's guys
Anyway, my games playing as been all over the place the past week, I finished off Gears of War on Casual because I'm really no good at these games (or most games for that matter...), returned to Bioshock but have come across the same frustrations that I previously had, gave Oblivion a try but felt it was just a postcard generator, before finally settling on a tri of golf games, Hot Shots Golf 2 on PSP, Super Swing Golf on Wii and Tiger Woods 09 on 360. I'm not even a fan of the sport, but I do enjoy relaxing in front of a console game of it...
I've also spent a bit of time with Castle Crashers on 360, which is great fun both in single player and on local multiplayer (with the missus, have wanted to play on Live but lost my voice for a few days...) |

| XBox Live Arcade : Castle Crashers |
| Posted by Duane Weatherall on 2008/8/28 9:35:20 (26 reads) |
Castle Crashers, from The Behemoth makers of Alien Hominid, hit XBox Live Arcade yesterday for the price of 1200 Microsoft Points. This past few weeks on Microsofts downloadable service have certainly been more expensive than normal, but Castle Crashers is most certainly worth its price.
Enjoy, I know I am, and if I play online with you at any point, baggsy Orange |

| Wednesday Game : GoldenEye 2D |
| Posted by Mark Kelly on 2008/8/27 8:57:16 (25 reads) |
This week's Wednesday Game is the opposite of a remake- a 'demake', if you will- porting the Nintendo 64 classic GoldenEye into a GameBoy era 2D side-scroller.
The game only goes as far as the end of Dam, the first level from the original, but remains relatively faithful- right down to a fantastic 8-bit rendition of the music.
Download it here. |

| What We're Playing : Nuts and Bolts |
| Posted by Duane Weatherall on 2008/8/26 8:53:32 (27 reads) |
I've started to dig into the Ratchet and Clank series, starting with Size Matters on the PSP, its probably not the finest example of the series, being by High Impact Games rather than Insomniac, but its enjoyable, I also have Secret Agent Clank and Going Commando waiting for me to play.
Aside from that I'm still playing the American McGee's Grimm games whenever they're released, Persona 3, Burnout Paradise and Psychonauts I've been unable to play Football Manager Live for the majority of the week due to having some sort of problem running it that wasn't there before. |

| Machinima Monday : You're too slow |
| Posted by Duane Weatherall on 2008/8/25 17:46:13 (28 reads) |
This weeks Machinima Monday was a bit of a rushed search if I'm being honest, still its a entertaining enough, and its only about a minute and a half long.
In this short, Solid Snake decides to teach Sonic the Hedgehog a lesson. This piece was made using Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, hit the jump to watch it. |

| Culture : Controversial art at Leipzig |
| Posted by Duane Weatherall on 2008/8/22 18:19:47 (37 reads) |
It seems this years Leipzig Videogames Conference has a rather controversial piece of art installation.
The piece, titled "Invaders" depicts a representation of the World Trade Center, with the world famous Space Invaders characters gradually making their way to the base of the towers, the installation is interactive and the player, as expected, controls the ship at the bottom of the screen in an attempt to keep the invaders at bay.
According to the French-American artist Douglas Edric Stanley, the piece is a comment on America's military based response to that historic day in September 2001. It must be mentioned that Taito, the company who holds the Space Invaders license isn't too pleased about the piece, so it remains to be seen what will happen in regards to the actual installation now Leipzig is over, and also to the artist in question.

| Virtual Console : Hanabi Festival #3 |
| Posted by Ben on 2008/8/22 5:44:09 (32 reads) |
Now this is more like it, I'll admit I was quite looking forward to the MS Sonic and maybe a bit of Megaman that the Americans got, but I will never turn my nose up at the VC's sporadicly appearing import festival.
We get a return of the formarly temporary Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels - 600 points. No idea why this was removed in the first place otther than to maybe ensure people rushed out and bought it.
The big one though is Snes classic Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - 900 points. It's actually 100 points more than the US paid (OUTRAGE!) but apparently it's worth it, though I've never played it myself.
Not a bad update, and like I said I do love a good virtual festival |
